Originally from Acton, Ontario, Chris spent his early years working and playing at Blue Springs Golf Club, the home of the PGA of Canada. It was here that he developed his love for the game and passion for the business and operational side of golf. As part of his journey to turn this devotion into a dream career, Chris honed his golf skills through competitive junior ranks and later graduated from Niagara College’s Business Administration – Professional Golf Management program, where he played on the Niagara Knights varsity golf team.
With over 13 years of private club management experience, Chris established himself in Muskoka in 2014 and has since worked at notable clubs such as Muskoka Bay Club, Rocky Crest, Grandview and The Lake Joseph Club. To deepen his involvement and understanding for the uniqueness of our region, he is actively involved in many community and Provincial initiatives including: PGA of Ontario Muskoka Chapter Chair, Golf Muskoka – Vice President and currently sits on Board of Directors for the Muskoka Lakes Chamber of Commerce.
Chris takes a hands-on, lead by example approach with his team and has always enjoyed the mentoring component of his previous roles. He firmly believes in the philosophy that “people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” and looks forward to fostering that culture at Port Carling to deliver a world-class golf experience for our members and guests.

John Gutierrez

Associate Professional

As a native Texan, Go Cowboys, John spent his formative years surrounded by sports and had to make new friends regularly being the son of military parents who were often relocated to different areas of the country. He has lived in Hawaii, Florida, and Virginia but most of his time was spent in a small town named Beeville, Texas. He studied at Southwest Texas State University before moving to Canada in 2001 with his wonderful wife Tracey and first daughter, Keira. Since laying roots in the Midland area, they have been blessed with two other boys, now teenagers, Gavin and Jarret. Before moving to Ontario his passion for competition led him to US Open and US Amateur qualifiers where he narrowly missed making it, but was an alternate at a local event.
Having worked as the Associate Professional at Midland Golf and Country Club for a numbers of years, and most recently at The Lake Joseph Club, he brings a well-rounded knowledge base of all aspects within the golf operation, which compliments his genuine desire to deliver a first-class experience and service levels to our membership. He believes that attention to detail, teamwork and strong execution of member events are all integral parts to making a club special and is eager to infuse his optimistic and positive perspective to make each visit to the club a memorable one. His philosophy to golf instruction was inspired by Harvey Penick and strikes a fine balance between technical swing changes and an improvement to the mental side of the game. This approach allows him to connect with his students and fosters a unique learning environment that is individually focused to achieve your goals.

Sterling Emery

Assistant Professional

Sterling is from Orangeville, Ontario where he and his older sister Jenna were raised by parents Brian and Brenda Emery. Sterling started playing golf at Shelburne Golf and Country Club when he was nine years old, and played in his first tournament at the age of eleven. Since then, Sterling has competed in multiple Provincial and National championships, and also represented Canada at international events in Australia and Scotland.
For the last 5 years, Sterling has been working at a couple of ClubLink’s premium Muskoka properties. He started at Rocky Crest Golf Resort as an Apprentice Professional and played-in to receive Candidate for Membership Class A status with the PGA of Canada in his first year. After three successful seasons at Rocky Crest, Sterling moved over to The Lake Joseph Club where he elevated the service culture and helped to grow the game, and it's enjoyment, through his instructional programs. Prior to moving to Muskoka, Sterling was involved in club building and repair at a local nine hole course. He later spent three years working as an Assistant Tournament Director for the Maple Leaf Junior Tour.
Sterling’s passion for helping others improve their golf game and overall fitness levels will bring a fun and interactive teaching and learning atmosphere for all levels and abilities. Sterling is excited to share his knowledge and training experience with you. Through his teaching and training instruction, Sterling is looking forward to being involved in your golf and fitness experience at Port Carling Golf and Country Club.

Tim Levert

Golf Shop Associate

Originally from Oakville, Ontario, Tim started his working life in the kitchen of Oakville Golf Club and quickly developed a passion for hospitality and cooking. Following that passion to Niagara College in 2014, Tim completed a diploma in Culinary Management only to find out his calling came in a different area of hospitality. 
Tim, now a recent graduate, enrolled in Georgian College’s Business Administration - Golf Management degree program in 2016 and eventually got his start in golf in 2018 as a member of the golf shop staff at Mad River Golf Club in Creemore, Ontario. During this time Tim came to develop a passion for the game and the private club experience he began working in years prior. Tim looks to continue to grow towards becoming an industry professional and is currently working hard to hone his golf skills to become a member of the PGA of Ontario. With 6 years of food and beverage under his belt prior to entering the golf sector, Tim has a positive presence and is not shy to use his experience to assist outside of golf operations.
Tim is a hardworking and driven individual who takes every opportunity to learn from those around him while continuing to provide the premier experience found at Port Carling Golf &CC. Known to lend a hand in whatever way he can, Tim has a team-driven mindset and looks forward to being a part of a very talented and seasoned golf staff this year.
